Hoog Dalem – USEF implementation goes live!

The USEF implementation at the all-electric neighbourhood of Hoog Dalem has gone live. The project aims to demonstrate the financial feasibility of smart energy applications and services to reduce peak load on the grid. USEF is utilised to optimise the usage of in-home batteries which store home-generated solar energy.

Pluggable business components in USEF’s reference implementation have been adapted to support the business logic for the project. This effectively automates the decision about whether the in-home battery should be used for in-home optimization only or to reduce the load on the grid when demand is high. The first results are expected at the end of May. Hoog Dalem is a project of the partner organizations KPN, ABB, Heijmans and Stedin Netbeheer.

Organisation

USEF was founded by seven key players, active across the smart energy industry. Their goal: to accelerate the establishment of an integrated smart energy system which benefits all stakeholders, from energy companies to consumers. The foundation is no longer active, yet USEF’s work is still available for referencing.
