Demonstration project update – Hoog Dalem

Approximately 50 new homes in the Dutch district Hoog Dalem are using solar and battery technologies alongside smart energy applications to reduce peak load in a simulated grid environment. The project aims to prove the financial feasibility of the approach. Phase one successfully demonstrated in-home optimisation. The second phase, with results due in 2016, will see USEF applied to overrule the local control mechanism, extending optimisation to district level using a simulated shared battery. For more information on the Hoog Dalem project, view the video.

Organisation

USEF was founded by seven key players, active across the smart energy industry. Their goal: to accelerate the establishment of an integrated smart energy system which benefits all stakeholders, from energy companies to consumers. The foundation is no longer active, yet USEF’s work is still available for referencing.
