‘Balance of Power’ winner of the Energy Institute Award 2019

Balance of Power, our documentary style ‘serious game’ about the future energy market, has been awarded the Energy Institute Award om the category Public Engagement.

The Energy Institute Awards have been running for 20 years. They are designed to celebrate and showcase the vast accomplishments in the global energy sector, an industry vital to society.

Since effective public engagement is very often the key determinant of the success or failure, the EI award for Public Engagement recognises the year’s best group or individual contribution to raising public awareness across the energy industry. We won the award for the innovative approach of Balance of Power, as well as for its contribution to improved understanding and knowledge of an important industry-wide energy issue.

Since its launch in November 2018, thousands of people across Europe have played Balance of Power – individually or in groups. As a starting point for discussion, it has been used in workshops for the European Commission, government bodies, energy companies, energy communities and universities. Not played it yet? Have a look at www.game.energy.

Organisation

USEF was founded by seven key players, active across the smart energy industry. Their goal: to accelerate the establishment of an integrated smart energy system which benefits all stakeholders, from energy companies to consumers. The foundation is no longer active, yet USEF’s work is still available for referencing.
