USEF and EWE sign MoU in relation to project enera

The Memorandum of Understanding relates to provision of an impact analysis to determine USEF’s fit with the creation of the Smart Market Design of SINTEG project, enera. Focus is on a verification mechanism underlying flexibility contracts. The mechanism will be demonstrated in a framework that allows flexibility to be used for multiple purposes.

Philip Goldkamp, Project Manager at EWE AG said “We are convinced that USEF is a perfect partner to support the project. USEF brings together two crucial competences for the design of a smart market framework: A broad network of industry experts from across Europe and in-depth know-how on the interaction of smart market elements and processes.”

enera is a 33-organisation consortium project, funded by the Federal German Ministry of Economics and Energy, to develop and demonstrate scalable solutions for the integration of grid, market and data. At its centre is a Smart Market Design – a flexibility platform enabling system grid operators TenneT, Avacon Netz and EWE NETZ to enter into flexibility contracts with aggregators.

Organisation

USEF was founded by seven key players, active across the smart energy industry. Their goal: to accelerate the establishment of an integrated smart energy system which benefits all stakeholders, from energy companies to consumers. The foundation is no longer active, yet USEF’s work is still available for referencing.
