USEF and FAN join forces

USEF (Universal Smart Energy Framework) and FAN (Flexiblepower Alliance Network) have agreed to join forces to develop standards for the emerging two-way energy markets. Because of this both parties signed a declaration of intent during the European Utility Week in RAI Amsterdam on November 5, 2014. The combined strength of FAN and USEF empowers millions of users to become active on local and national energy markets. Their ambition is to enable low-volume energy consumers to become both producers and consumers – and actively participate in our future energy system.

USEF and FAN both have the ambition to unleash the power of flexibility for the energy market and provide key components for large scale implementations of smart energy systems. By aligning their market vision and design philosophy the solutions of USEF and FAN become complementary. This results in the first market ready solution that allows cost efficient solutions for demand response for the SME – and residential mass market. It enables third parties to develop future proof demand response- and energy management applications.

Organisation

USEF was founded by seven key players, active across the smart energy industry. Their goal: to accelerate the establishment of an integrated smart energy system which benefits all stakeholders, from energy companies to consumers. The foundation is no longer active, yet USEF’s work is still available for referencing.
